Chapter 215 Master and Disciple Talk
Wuyou Temple is not well-known in the world. People only know a Bodhisattva named Puji, and the temple is named Wuyou Temple, but no one knows where it is.
No one has seen it, only heard of it, because except for the disciples of Baoguang Temple, few people can enter here.
Green pines and bamboos grow in the mountains, evergreen and full of vitality all year round, swaying and rustling in the wind. A tall Bodhi tree is as strong as a dragon, with Bodhi seeds hanging on its branches like a canopy.
A 1.6-meter-tall girl sat below it. There were a dozen Buddhist scriptures on the stone table. A faint Buddhist light emanated from them, and the pages fluttered in the wind.
Although the girl is not short, she has a loli face. Her pink and tender skin is faintly red, smooth and tender, full of youthful vigor.
Her cheeks were slightly chubby, and her eyes followed the flying Buddhist scriptures, but her attention was distracted from time to time. She had already memorized the Buddhist scriptures by heart, and she had also remembered the wisdom and philosophy contained in them.
But remembering doesn't mean understanding, nor does it mean that she has let go of everything. To her, the scriptures are like school textbooks.
"It's not easy to meditate. It gives me a headache." Su Xiaowei stroked her forehead. Her shoulder-length hair was clearly visible, black, shiny and full of luster.
Puji walked over slowly, looked at his disciple, and said: "The wisdom in the Buddhist scriptures belongs to others. It reflects your own heart, and the insights you gain are your own. You don't have to deliberately study it. The Buddhist scriptures are new every time you read them. It is only you who grows."
It is difficult to expect a young girl to know the wisdom of life. Puji never makes any demands and everything happens naturally.
"Oh." Su Xiaowei rubbed her hair. It grew so fast that even if it was cut off, it would still grow out involuntarily.
"Master, why are there so many Buddhist scriptures in Baoguang Temple? Not only should we read the scriptures written by ancient people, such as the Diamond Sutra, the Prajna Sutra, and the Avatamsaka Sutra, but we should also study the scriptures written by the Bodhisattvas in the temple.
The Tripitaka, including sutras, vinaya and abhidharma, is obscure and difficult to understand, and contains so many profound truths. If you look at it from this angle or that angle, you can talk about it in hundreds of thousands of words just by picking out one point.
I could never fully understand these scriptures even if I read them for ten thousand years."
Su Xiaowei felt like she would be drowned in the vast ocean of Buddhist scriptures. No matter how wise she was, she could not get out of this pit.
Puji smiled kindly: "You little brain, you still want to read these Buddhist scriptures? I don't even think about such things.
Each book is the crystallization of wisdom. If one can easily read it, then wouldn’t the Bodhisattvas in the temple have practiced in vain for so many years?
If you regard these Buddhist scriptures as delicacies, what you need to do now is to taste one or two. Whether you like them or not, you will always have a scale in your mind and have a general idea of how they taste.
Just learn what you want to learn, what touches you the most, what interests you the most, and what you can understand the most deeply. "
"Oh." Su Xiaowei nodded. The unknown made her worried and confused, but her master's advice made her realize that many troubles did not exist at all. They were all caused by her own confused minds and she brought them upon herself.
"Do you like Buddhist scriptures?" Puji asked.
"It's not too boring." Su Xiaowei said, "When I read the scriptures, I felt like I was talking to ancient sages and I learned a lot.
This kind of experience sometimes makes me open-minded and helps me see things more clearly. I am no longer confused and happy. "
“Thoughts arise and disappear, joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness are all within them.” Puji said.
Su Xiaowei still didn't understand the concept of "thoughts". If she had no thoughts, her mind would be still like time, and her body would be integrated with space.
"Those who have no thoughts in their minds are either like stones, who know nothing and therefore do not think; or like people of great wisdom, who know everything and therefore do not need to think." said Bodhisattva Puji.
"Oh." Su Xiaowei nodded. This was the word she said the most in Wuyou Temple. As Puji's last disciple, she was the youngest and knew the least.
Su Xiaowei suddenly had a thought and asked, "Master, why do people have worries? What is the state of the four elements being empty without worries?"
"Trouble? Trouble only arises when you think it is trouble." Puji said, "If you can take it and put it down, if you can put everything down and see through everything, then you will have no trouble. Children have no troubles, this is the freedom of the shortcut.
People who lack wisdom have no worries. They do not think about worries and do not consider them to be worries.
People with great wisdom have no worries because they live with clarity and can easily let go of their worries.
Who do you think is the best? "
"Child." Su Xiaowei said without hesitation.
The happiness of fools is simple. They even find it difficult to recognize the existence of troubles and they demand very little.
A wise person lives a so-called transparent life. How much suffering and torment must his soul have gone through before he finally reaches the point where everything is clear?
As for children, that is their true natural happiness.
"How about you keep the heart of a baby?"
Su Xiaowei nodded with a smile. She didn't like many theories in Buddhism. She had her own yardstick for what she thought and did.
The heart belongs to her, so she won't go against her own heart.
"Master, what is love?" Su Xiaowei asked. She really wanted to ask because there were too many questions about love that she couldn't figure out.
Most of the girls’ thoughts come from this.
Puji pondered, looked at the bodhi tree swaying in the wind and the moving stars, and said: "My heart is pounding, we are willing. One thought is eternal, and it disappears in an instant."
"I don't understand." Su Xiaowei didn't quite understand this answer.
"Love comes from nowhere, it grows deeper and deeper, and it appears. You and I are willing to love each other, and when we swear to each other, our hearts are intertwined, and it is confirmed. Two people are sure of its existence and think it is a priceless treasure. When this moment is frozen, it is eternal. If one person is uncertain, gives up, and stops loving, it will go from being a priceless treasure to a castle in the air, and disappear in an instant.
Love belongs to the soul, comes from the soul, and is destroyed by the soul. It is priceless and worthless.
Do you understand what the Master said? "
"I think I understand." Su Xiaowei pinched her slightly chubby cheeks and said, "Master, have you ever been moved?"
What kind of life should a Bodhisattva-level figure like Master, who has profound cultivation and a strong mind, lead?
Puji pondered for a longer time this time. It seemed that he had not thought about some things for too long, and they had become distant memories.
After a long pause, he nodded: "I think so. When I was young, I lived in the mountains. The green lamp and the ancient Buddha have been like this since I was born.
When I was sixteen years old, I went down the mountain and met a young girl on the way. I, as your teacher, thought she was very special. I liked her no matter how I looked at her and couldn’t bear to take my eyes off her.
I really want to know her name, where she lives, what she likes to eat, and what books she likes to read. "
"Then what?" Su Xiaowei asked curiously.
Puji smiled and said, "Then your master's master hit your master on the head with a ruler and told me not to break the precepts of lust, to keep my original intention and not to waver, because women are all skeletons made of red powder."
