Chapter 7 Wei Jing
Northwest direction, in Longmen Town.
The once prosperous town has become a little shabby. The newly paved asphalt road is covered with a thick layer of yellow sand. The roadside restaurants are empty and the goods in the supermarket have been sold out.
Except for the occasional yellow sand blowing in the wind, the whole town was silent, like an empty city.
In just a few days, the once prosperous town was deserted.
In an empty indoor gymnasium in the town, there were more than forty people, young and old, gathered here. Wei Jing sat in a corner to rest, and several people in black uniforms were comforting the survivors here.
"Don't ask me anymore, I don't know!" Suddenly, a middle-aged man who was being questioned in the crowd shouted out of control. "The yellow sand swallowed them."
"It's all your fault. You're the ones who hid the truth. My wife...my son are dead. It's all your fault!"
The middle-aged man burst into tears as he spoke. The man in black uniform did not say anything, but turned around and left silently, asking the next person.
Most of the people in the gymnasium were also moved by the middle-aged man's emotions, and for a while the entire gymnasium was filled with crying sounds.
"Sir," a man in black uniform came up to Wei Jing and asked, "Should we continue questioning?"
"Don't ask for now." Wei Jing looked at the time and found that it was already past five o'clock. "Distribute food to them. It's time to eat."
"By the way, please organize the inquiry materials and give them to me."
As the questioning ended and food was distributed, the crowd's emotions gradually calmed down and the gymnasium became quiet. However, after what they had experienced in the past two days, they could no longer live a normal life as before.
Wei Jing ate the same bread and water as everyone else, and flipped through the records of Longmen Town residents being attacked by evil spirits, trying to find a pattern.
He had previously read the information compiled by Li Jun before his disappearance, which described in detail that most people fell down while escaping and were attacked by supernatural beings, while a small number were suddenly attacked by evil spirits. People who were attacked by supernatural beings would quickly turn into desertification, turning into a pile of yellow sand and blending into this ghost area.
However, a surviving resident later said that he had also fallen, but had not been attacked by any supernatural forces. Subsequent investigations revealed that this was not an isolated case.
Therefore, it cannot be confirmed that falling down is a condition for evil spirits to kill people.
In addition, the source of the strange yellow sand was discovered. It was located in the Friendship Park in the northwest corner of Longmen Town. However, the place was completely covered with yellow sand. Wei Jing observed it from a distance once, and his intuition told him not to rush in.
However, after rescuing most of the residents, Li Jun rushed in directly, trying to solve the supernatural incident on his own. However, he failed and even lost the supernatural item, the ghost fire lantern.
Wei Jing got a headache when he thought of this. If he had the ghost fire lantern, he could lead all the remaining people in the gymnasium out of the yellow sand ghost domain right now, without having to send them one day at a time.
But he is also an ordinary person!
Because he was only controlling one evil spirit, the evil spirit in his body revived very quickly.
Continuously activating the power of the evil spirit made Wei Jing a little overwhelmed, and the evil spirit in his body could hardly be suppressed.
"Li Jun can't be in charge anymore," Wei Jing sensed his own physical condition. He couldn't protect himself now. "Send these people out tomorrow. I'll go back to the experimental base. Even if the evil spirits revive, they can't stay outside."
Wei Jing knew how terrifying a ghost that possessed a ghost domain was. If it were to revive outside, it would at least be an A-level event, and no one knew how many people would die.
Going back to the headquarters to undergo the experiment was his only option. Since he was about to die, he might as well take a chance and participate in the experiment of controlling the second evil spirit. Success would be great, but failure would also be under the control of the headquarters.
After looking through the interrogation records, Wei Jing did not find any useful clues. The people attacked by evil spirits were so varied that he could not summarize any pattern.
Unless you come into direct contact with the evil spirits in the yellow sand and feel their patterns, you can only discover new clues.
However, as the evil spirit was about to revive, he no longer had the opportunity to deal with this supernatural incident.
Fortunately, the killing pattern of the Yellow Sand Ghost is not easy to trigger. From the time Wei Jing entered the Yellow Sand Ghost Domain until now, he has not encountered a single killing by the ghost. This is why he gathered the survivors in the gymnasium instead of sending them out of the Yellow Sand Ghost Domain immediately.
"If only the professor were here, he would definitely be able to find the killing patterns of the evil spirits from these records." Wei Jing thought.
Suddenly his satellite phone rang.
Wei Jing picked up the phone and found that it was a call from headquarters. Although he didn't know what the matter was, he quickly picked up the phone.
"Wei Jing, what's the situation on your end?" It was the voice of operator Wei Jing.
"Everything is normal. The gymnasium is the last group of survivors," Wei Jing thought for a moment and said, "Is there any new situation from headquarters?"
"There is a new situation," Zhao Jianguo took over the call, "Professor Wang checked the relevant records. He thinks this supernatural incident is not simple, and asks you to act with caution."
"Also, the professor has a new invention that should be able to help you. However, because it has not been tested, the detailed data is not clear. The information will be sent to your satellite phone, so remember to check it."
Wei Jing was very happy to hear what Zhao Jianguo said. He had some questions at the moment.
"Is the professor here? I have something I want to ask him."
"I'm here." Wang Xiaoming's calm voice came from the microphone.
Hearing Wang Xiaoming's voice, Wei Jing felt relieved. As Wang Xiaoming's bodyguard, he believed very much in Wang Xiaoming's abilities. In his opinion, Wang Xiaoming was the hope to completely solve the supernatural problem.
"Professor, I have collected many cases of attacks by the Yellow Sand Ghost, but I am unable to analyze their killing patterns. I hope you can take a look and give me some direction." Wei Jing said as he transmitted the information and his speculations back to the headquarters.
He was originally ready to give up imprisoning the Yellow Sand Ghost, but his fighting spirit was rekindled.
After hanging up the call, Wei Jing began to check the information sent from the headquarters. He was very curious about what invention Zhao Jianguo thought could help him.
Wei Jing read ten lines at a glance and quickly found the key point...the ghost-exorcising bell?
Wei Jing looked at it in confusion. When he learned that he could defend against attacks from evil spirits without any side effects, his mouth opened wide enough to fit a duck egg in.
Professor Wang is really amazing!
He immediately downloaded the ghost-chasing ringtone that was sent to his satellite phone and tried to view the detailed information, but strangely, he could see nothing, no size, no duration, only the name of the ghost-chasing ringtone.
On the other side, Wang Xiaoming received the message from Wei Jing, then printed them out one by one and stapled them, then found a quiet room to start checking them.
With his excellent memory and natural analytical ability, Wang Xiaoming quickly finished reading the key parts of the information.
Leaning on the sofa, Wang Xiaoming activated his ability to awaken his memory, and the information he had just seen instantly appeared before his eyes one by one.
His brain seemed to have evolved, sorting out all the information one by one and extracting the words that appeared the most times...
Fall, collide, squint, get hurt, get bruised, eat sand...
Wang Xiaoming immediately discovered the problem. Most people were injured and then attacked by evil spirits. Although there were some people who experienced the same thing and were fine, there must be a difference.
Unlike Wei Jing, after Wang Xiaoming made a judgment, he quickly began to dig deeper into his own reasoning and would not be distracted by other information at all.
"When humans are injured, they usually feel pain and scream. When the pain reaches a certain level, they will feel sad, cry, and feel fear."
"There are also different degrees of injuries. I don't know the specific classification, but it can be simply classified into abrasions, bleeding, fractures, and internal bleeding."
Wang Xiaoming quickly discovered the highlight.
"Is it because the degree of injury is different?"
Wang Xiaoming remembered that the number of deaths in the supernatural incident in Longmen Town was not large, which means that it is not easy to trigger the killing rules of evil spirits. Things like making sounds, being afraid, and shedding tears should not be the conditions for evil spirits to kill.
Thinking of this,
Wang Xiaoming returned to the operator's office and called Wei Jing again.
Jingle Bell……
A shrill bell rang in the gym, but no one picked up.
The gymnasium, which originally housed dozens of people, became unusually quiet, with everyone huddled on one side of the gymnasium.
A faint black mist drifted over from the other side. Everyone just covered their mouths and noses and dared not speak. Even the people in black uniforms did the same. Even if they heard the ringing of their cell phones, they did not dare to get close to the mist.
He could only stare at the depths of the fog with a grim expression. That was where Wei Jing was resting. It was originally fine, but suddenly a black fog began to spread out from there.
At this time, several people in black uniforms thought they were going to die. It was obvious that their leader was about to revive as a ghost. They vaguely saw a path winding through the fog.
Suddenly, the phone stopped ringing, the black fog began to dissipate, and the path that had just appeared seemed like an illusion.
"Sorry, there was a little accident just now." Wei Jing's slightly trembling voice came from a distance.
When everyone heard Wei Jing's voice, they finally put their minds at ease. Several people in black uniforms stepped forward to check, "Sir, are you okay?"
"Don't worry, I can still hold on." Wei Jing, who had just regained control of his body, was sweating profusely. The closer he was to the revival of the spirit, the more the ghost rider would feel his powerlessness in the face of the spirit.
Seeing that Wei Jing had indeed recovered, the men in black uniforms breathed a sigh of relief and returned to the crowd to comfort others.
Wiping the sweat off his forehead, Wei Jing dialed the headquarters number.
"Wei Jing, are you okay? Why didn't you answer the phone just now? Did something happen?" As soon as the call was connected, I heard the operator's continuous questioning.
"It's okay, it's just that a supernatural thing went out of control just now, and I solved it." Wei Jing pretended to be relaxed, but only he knew how dangerous it was just now. It seemed that even if there was no such mission, he would not be able to hold on for much longer.
"Can you still hold on? Do I need you to come back?"
"It's okay. I'm familiar with my body."
"If there is any situation, you must report it." The operator said with concern.
"Okay," Wei Jing asked, "Is it Professor Wang who is looking for me?"
"It's me," Wang Xiaoming took over the call without further ado, "Based on the information you provided, I think the killing rule this time may be related to the injury."
Wei Jing listened to the voice on the phone and nodded, "Actually, my initial judgment was that they were injured, but some people were not injured, but were also attacked by evil spirits."
"I have an idea for these people, but I need you to first identify the parts and extent of the injuries of those who were injured but not killed by the evil spirits."
"Okay, I'll do it right away." Wei Jing immediately called a man in black uniform and asked him to collect the information.
This time Wang Xiaoming did not leave, but waited for Wei Jing's message. Not long after, Wei Jing's message came over.
