Chapter 10 Sacrifice
Roland held the staff, feeling the astonishing amount of blessings within it. He glanced at the few surviving undead and cast a simple spell, killing the remaining undead warriors one by one.
While Roland was cleaning up the mess, Hela, who had been knocked away, stood up again and walked step by step to Roland's side.
She didn't suffer much damage. Although her transparent shield was pierced, the stone skin provided by the alchemical potion was able to withstand the high priest's attack.
Looking at the cracks on Hela's skin due to diarrhea, Roland took out a bottle of alchemical potion from his arms and handed it to Hela.
Hela didn't hesitate and drank it all in one gulp.
After Hela drank the alchemical potion, Roland also stretched out his right hand and gently tapped Hela's stomach.
Under the effect of gentle magic infusion and alchemical potion, Hela's stone skin turned into countless fragments and fell off, revealing Hela's real skin.
Roland looked Hela up and down, took out a used spell scroll, and through magic manipulation, sewed it onto Hela's clothes to cover her exposed belly.
Then, Roland walked to the high priest's head and lifted it up calmly. The ice quickly spread from his hands and froze the high priest's head.
Finally, Roland threw the frozen head to Hela and asked her to hold it first. He then walked up to the altar and began to prepare for the sacrificial ceremony.
When the black sky disappeared, all the cultists waiting outside rushed in.
In their opinion, there was no way that Roland and Hela, two little brats, could defeat the high priest. Therefore, the cultists in the village not only did not run away, but on the contrary, in order to show themselves in front of the high priest, almost everyone in the village was there.
When they broke in, they saw a chaotic battlefield.
And when they looked up at the altar, the figure standing on the altar was not the high priest they expected to see. Instead of seeing a familiar figure, they were met with Roland's cold gaze.
However, it was Hela who finally broke down their inner defenses, standing under the altar, holding a frozen head in her right hand.
On the head, the half-broken dark golden mask revealed his identity.
The high priest is dead.
The first few priests who rushed in were shocked by the news and were stunned for a moment. Only one priest reacted and quickly knelt on the ground, kowtowing frantically and shouting loudly.
"Sir, I surrender, I surrender. He forced me to do all this. I had no choice before, but now I just want to be a good person. Please forgive me."
As his voice rang out, the other priests also came to their senses.
Even the high priest was no match for them, let alone them?
Thinking of this, they all made a decision.
With the sounds of kneeling, all the priests in the village knelt on the ground and raised their hands in surrender.
Roland would naturally not accept their surrender. The hands of each of these priests were stained with blood and they should have died long ago.
Of course, Roland did not annihilate the cult organization for justice or anything, but just for revenge.
There are always some ordinary people who are dragged into cult organizations. Besides, their parents and children are not necessarily all members of cults.
But Roland didn't want to distinguish.
Even if they have not done anything evil, they have enjoyed the support of the cult organization as they are able to live in the mountain village. Since they have enjoyed the benefits brought by blood and death, they naturally have to bear the price.
Roland kept his word. Since the cultists killed his entire family, Roland would also kill their entire family. No one would be able to escape.
Amid the priests' voices of surrender, Roland initiated the sacrifice.
As a familiar sense of terror descended, all the people in the entire village, including the altar under his feet, were swept away. Even the corpses were sacrificed by Roland at a low price.
The only exception was the high priest. Although Roland needed the blessing provided by the sacrifice, he would not wrong himself.
Even if the benefits were less, Roland would not sacrifice the high priest. Except for the first sacrifice, in the remaining sacrifices, Roland did not sacrifice the cultists to the undead sub-plane to reincarnate as undead. Instead, at the cost of reducing one third of the blessing, he let the undead sub-plane crush their bodies and souls and scatter them in the sub-plane as nourishment for other undead.
Roland landed lightly on the ground and walked towards the door calmly.
"Let's go."
Hela nodded and followed Roland carrying the high priest's head.
After making sure that no one in the entire village survived, there was no need for the two men to take any secret passages anymore. They just left through the main gate of the village openly.
After the two men walked to the foot of the mountain and put their weapons and remaining items back on the Chocobo, they rode on the Chocobo and left.
As they left, Roland remotely activated the spell scroll he had placed in the secret passage.
Following several roars, the snow-capped mountains behind the two men shook slightly, and the mountain village on top was destroyed.
After killing the high priest, the two did not continue to clean up the remaining altars, but found a nearby town to rest for the night. At dawn the next day, the two men ran to the location of their former tribe with the high priest's head.
After traveling for a day and a night, they successfully reached their destination after killing several groups of horse bandits who attempted to rob them.
In front of a cemetery, Hela held the high priest's head in both hands and gently placed it in front of the tombstone.
Roland stood silently by the side, staring quietly at the tombstone in front of him.
After Hela decided to accept his training, Roland trained her while returning here to collect the bodies of the two tribes where Hela and Roland were.
According to the tradition of the North, Roland prepared more than 700 urns and cremated all the bodies of the two tribes and buried them here, including his parents in this life.
Thinking of the mutilated bodies of his parents, Roland walked to Hela's side, lifted the high priest's head with his left hand, and a ball of green flame burned in his right hand.
Roland placed the high priest's head over the flames. Naturally, the fragile and rotten flesh was quickly burned, leaving only a black soul entity.
Under the burning of the green flame, the black soul entity was slowly eroded.
It transformed into the appearance of the high priest, wailing and cursing constantly.
Listening to the high priest's abuse, Roland, who was already in a bad mood, increased his torture on him. While the soul fire was burning, the continuous mental shock was also constantly impacting it.
Under the severe and unbearable pain, the high priest could only wailing.
Since Roland didn't want him to die too easily, the soul fire burned him very slowly, so his wailing lasted for a day and a night.
It was not until the sun rose the next day that the last bit of the high priest's soul was burned out and completely turned to ashes.
After killing the high priest, Roland looked at Hela who was kneeling in front of the tombstone and spoke softly.
"Let's go."
Hela nodded and stood up silently.
After the two of them took one last look at the tombstone, Roland waved his hand, and countless snow and wind were swept up, completely burying the grave in the snow.
