Since Sauron lost the One Ring after his finger was cut off, he has never had a physical body again. Without a physical body, he seems more unpredictable and can come and go without a trace, but his strength is also severely weakened.
Today, Sauron, facing Gandalf, a Maiar who has been stranded in Middle-earth for a long time and has lost most of his wisdom and strength, must send his nine Ringwraiths to help him, otherwise he will not be able to win. Therefore, it is not surprising that when he was spotted by Lin You, he wanted to run away as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, there is no escape.
Before that kick from the sky landed, the area in front of the gate of Carndum Fortress had already been covered by a large-scale dimensional space; the only exit was for Gandalf and Radagast, and as soon as the rabbit-pulled sled rushed out, all the space was immediately locked.
The black fog kept changing its shape, and in order to escape, it flew up to the sky and into the ground in the dimensional space, and it didn't care about the orcs and savages being scattered all over the place, but there was still no way to go.
Finally, Sauron, who had given up hope, hovered in the air, and the black mist finally transformed into a dark eyeball; there was a long and narrow black vertical shadow in the center of the pupil, which looked like the vertical pupil of a snake or a cat, but also like a standing human figure.
The nine Ringwraiths floated under the eyeball, marching for their master; these puppets whose souls were controlled had long lost all emotions, including fear, and would only carry out Sauron's orders to the letter - although their only role at the moment was to give Sauron courage.
The fire tornado that stretched from sky to earth was still raging, circle after circle, clearing out a large open space for the writer to have a private conversation with the dark enemy.
"Before I ask any questions, in order to avoid wasting time, let me say one thing first." Lin You's voice was distant and majestic. He imitated the voices of Lady Galadriel and Manwe, thinking that it could effectively increase the authority of his words. "I roughly know the whereabouts of the One Ring. If you don't tell the truth, I won't waste my breath with you. Instead, I will turn around and leave immediately to get the One Ring and throw it into the lava of Mount Doom."
The black mist rolling around the black eyeball stopped for a moment.
The One Ring is infused with most of Sauron's power and has now become something like the "Lich's Lifebox". It is the only thing that sustains Sauron's existence.
In terms of safety, this thing is much stronger than Voldemort's Horcrux; not only is the ring itself strong, but it can also bewitch and erode the soul of those who come into contact with it, making them enslaved by Sauron. More importantly, the only way to destroy the ring is the lava of the Doomsday volcano, and the location of this volcano happens to be Sauron's lair.
If you want to destroy the ring, you must first get it under Sauron's nose.
With the "Vera" now collectively secluded from the world, the safety of the One Ring is highly guaranteed - until it encounters the writer, a guy who breaks the rules of the game.
Not only does he have power comparable to or even greater than that of the "Vara", he is also not subject to the restriction of the "Vara" that prohibits him from entering the secular world; and he is also fixated on the Dark Lord.
The thought of "taking a gamble" flashed through Soran's mind. He bet that the foreign visitor did not know the whereabouts of the ring and it was pure bluffing. However, this thought was extinguished by himself as soon as it arose.
How to bet?
Gamble with your life?
That's your life!
If he really liked to risk his life, he should have done it as early as when he lost his power in the last war. Why would he have to be sneaky and hide for thousands of years?
Lin You knew that the deterrence had taken effect, so he asked the first question with a smile: "Who opened the space-time rift in Dol Guldur? Who suggested that you invade the other world through the space-time rift?"
The "eyeballs" rolled around and didn't say a word for a long time.
"I forgot to add that not answering is the same as not telling the truth." Lin You threatened with a smile. The black fog around his eyeballs rolled violently, and after a moment, a turbid and low voice sounded: "I have never seen how the gap in time and space appeared, and I don't know who did it; I only heard a voice that told me about the conjunction of the celestial spheres and told me that the world on the other side is larger and more populous than Middle-earth. If I can conquer it, I will gain a lot."
The sound constantly refracted through the surrounding hills, creating a buzzing sound that made the listeners feel uneasy.
Lin You questioned: "Dolguldu is your lair that you have been managing for a long time. How could you know nothing about such a big change?"
"I'm telling you the truth. I haven't seen him in person, I only heard his voice. There's nothing I can do." The situation was pressing, and Sauron openly admitted the fact that he was incompetent.
However, although the Dark Lord "honestly" exposed his shortcomings, Lin You only sneered at him. "Your attitude is sincere, but what you said is not entirely true! The Dark Lord, who is feared by all the creatures in Middle-earth, was persuaded by a man he had never even met to send the Orc army he had painstakingly trained to invade another world? Are you a three-year-old child? You will follow him just because I give you a candy?"
The huge "eyeball" paused again. If the eyes are the windows to the soul, then the Dark Lord's window is really too big, and he can't hide his psychological activities in front of the Ophiuchus Saint.
"What else did that voice say?" Lin You pressed on, asking harshly.
“That voice… let me see my future destiny.” When talking about “future destiny”, Soran’s voice was filled with a complex mixture of anger and fear.
"Future destiny?" Lin You thought, "Did you see the scene of the destruction of the One Ring in advance?"
The movement of the "eyeball" became more and more impatient. The orcs who were still struggling to find a way to escape under the fire tornado were suddenly terrified. Sauron's drastic emotional change triggered their fear and caused their spirits to collapse instantly.
The scene was in complete chaos. Some orcs roared at the flames instead of dodging them, some jumped down from the top of the mountain and were smashed to pieces by the dimensional space barrier, and some even rushed directly into the fire tornado and were burned to ashes.
"You'd better calm down. If you can't answer my questions properly, the One Ring will be destroyed sooner." Lin You was aggressive, not caring at all whether his questioning would be the last straw that broke the camel's back.
Because someone has tried to change the storyline.
In every story world, only the top gods can see through the truth of the dimension; at the very least, one has to be like Ophiuchus, who is on par with gods in the Saint Seiya story, and have to reach the top of the story world in terms of strength to have a chance to break the shackles of the dimension.
In order to ensure stability and smoothness when the stories merge, the bigwigs from each world tacitly keep the secret to avoid unnecessary confusion.
One of the most obvious counterexamples is Patrick Morgan in the DC story. Originally, he had no chance to see through the truth of the dimension and break free from his own destiny. It was only because of the failure of the first big world plan that he was able to get a glimpse of the truth and cause many troubles.
Sauron's position in the world of The Lord of the Rings is no higher than Ares in the DC story. Under normal circumstances, he should not know the truth about the dimension, let alone know in advance that he is doomed to fail.
Now someone has broken the rules, is there anyone else trying to create an "unknown" incident? (End of this chapter)
