If we use human etiquette as an analogy, the journey from the hillside of Mount Olympus to the top of the mountain is roughly equivalent to a guest entering the depths of the house from the gatehouse; as to whether he or she enters the hall or the room in the end, it depends on the host's arrangements.
However, given the relationship between the author and Zeus, there would probably be no chance for him to "enter the room", but the treatment of "entering the hall" is essential.
Treatment represents attitude; if it is changed to human rules, whether to roll out the red carpet, whether to fire salutes, and what kind of people to arrange for reception and meeting, those are all attitudes.
Zeus's attitude was good, and he met the writer immediately. However, there were only the two of them in the temple, and it was deserted, not as grand as imagined, with all the gods gathering in Olympus.
The writer would naturally not miss such a ready-made opportunity; "What a deserted Mount Olympus. It seems that the consequences of Ares' rebellion will have far-reaching consequences."
"Are you here just to say some nonsense?" Zeus asked with a gloomy face.
"There can be a second sentence for the nonsense, for example, has Hades's injury not healed yet? Or a third sentence, has Ares woken up?"
As long as the topic is well chosen, one sentence can make people angry! Not to mention that Lin You said three sentences in a row, specifically poking Zeus's lungs.
Zeus saw Ares' rebellion as an opportunity to counter the Pantheon, but the scale and consequences of the rebellion clearly exceeded his Majesty's expectations. Hades, one of the three giants, was nearly killed; Ares was deceived by a branch god after escaping and lost most of his godhood, which was a disgrace to the true god.
These things are now spreading like wildfire in the world of gods, and countless gods are laughing at Olympus' joke.
Lightning began to flash in the temple, a natural reaction to the outward emotions of His Majesty the Divine King. Arcs of electricity flickered, and seemed to be moving closer to the author.
Lin You turned a blind eye and changed the subject: "By the way, I just saw the settlements of those 'humans' at the foot of the mountain, cities, villages, olive groves and so on. Are there mortals living in the God Realm as well?"
"Did you really come to Olympus just to talk nonsense or ask irrelevant questions?" Zeus was obviously very impatient, which was similar to his character shown in mythology.
"This is a necessary greeting. In human interaction, it is regarded as an effective atmosphere lubricant. Moreover, if you rush straight to the point, your opponent will see it as a weakness in the negotiation. People will be eager to ask for something, and the one asking for something is always the more passive party."
Zeus snorted coldly: "I am not interested in these human tricks. You can just get straight to the point."
Lin You rolled his eyes and an inexplicable smile appeared on the corner of his lips: "So, the actual situation is that you are more anxious than me for this negotiation?"
The electric light in the temple became more and more dazzling, and the arcs of lightning flashing around the writer became more and more dense.
"Of course there are mortals living here; the Olympus mythology is a story performed jointly by gods and humans. It would be even more strange if there were no mortals living in such a vast mythological world, right?" Zeus' voice was still cold, but he followed the writer's words and began the so-called "greetings."
"But why did I hear that those mortals can no longer be considered living people?" Lin You asked again.
"Because of the Great World Project." Zeus was like an emotionless question-answering machine. "The 'mortals' living in the God Realm are completely different from the mortals living in the Great World. They are more like a kind of spiritual life, following the unique rules of birth, aging, illness, death and reincarnation of the Olympian God Realm."
"I see." Lin You pretended to understand something. "Look, after talking for a few words, the atmosphere became more relaxed. This is the benefit of small talk."
The arcs of electricity that almost covered the entire temple confirmed the writer's words.
"I know that Ares's godhood is in your hands. Just tell me, what do you want?"
Zeus' words brought more smiles to Lin You's face; his initial words were not just nonsense, His Majesty the King of Olympus really had something to ask for in this negotiation.
"I'm just giving you a heads up so you don't curse me later. I want a lot of things this time. If you can't give them to me, just give up the deal."
"Speak!" Zeus' patience had long been exhausted, and he uttered the last two words with his back teeth bitten.
“First of all, I’m very sorry. A part of the godhead in my hand has been consumed. It’s no longer complete.” Lin You was calm and composed, and there was no sincerity in his apology. “You can never get back the missing part. Just consider it as… um… storage fee or the cost of finding the lost property.”
Zeus looked angry: "That is the true God's divinity, the source of power, and the support of divinity."
“I know, I know!” Lin You said as a matter of course, “Of course I know how precious the True Godhead is, otherwise why would I ask you to never ask for it back?”
This act of robbing the Olympian gods with a sense of righteousness made His Majesty the God King furious. The dense arcs in the temple were no longer restrained, like thousands of flying silver snakes, trying to tear Lin You apart and devour him.
Lin You did not move, and even observed with interest the length and duration of the arcs to judge their intensity, as if he was intentionally waiting for the arcs to approach him.
Thunder and lightning are the weapons that Zeus is most familiar with using. Throughout the mythology of Olympus, Zeus only needs to use thunder and lightning to eliminate most of the opponents he encounters.
Compared to the lightning of Thor, the Norse god of thunder, the lightning in Zeus's hands is three times more powerful; Lin You really wants to see it with his own eyes so as to accurately assess his own combat effectiveness.
It was a pity that His Majesty the King of Gods did not give him a chance; the electric light in the sky stopped when it got to a very close distance, and Lin You, who was standing in the center of the electric light, mistakenly thought that he was playing COSPLAY, imitating Nikola Tesla who was reading a book under the high-voltage electric arc.
"How much of Ares's godhood is left?" Zeus' tone still sounded majestic, but it could not deceive the writer who knew the inside story; Lin You vaguely heard some signs of softening in it.
His Majesty the God King of Olympus seems ready to give in?
“You’ll know once you take a look.” Lin You pulled out a lifeless godhead from the dimensional space. From the appearance, it looked like a person with severely mutilated limbs, and it no longer had the dazzling golden-red light that was a mixture of holiness and bloodiness. Instead, it exuded a strong smell of poison and death from the inside out.
It is obvious that this incomplete godhead was filled with "god-killing poison" before coming; if the negotiations fail, or the Olympian gods try to seize it by force, the writer has enough spare capacity to destroy the godhead, or at least cause irreparable damage.
The true God is immortal and cannot die.
To a certain extent, the gods in the imaginary dimension all come from human concepts and are conceptual gods. If a true god is lost, it is equivalent to destroying the conceptual "integrity" of a pantheon; and the "divine realm" to which the pantheon belongs will also suffer serious damage.
Zeus can tolerate the main gods being seriously injured and in deep sleep, and even when it is absolutely necessary, he can admit that some of the main gods' divinity has been devoured and their duties have been replaced; but he will never tolerate the main gods' divinity suffering fundamental damage.
Lin You gestured pretentiously and said, "Compared to the entire godhead, losing less than one-fifth doesn't seem like much, right?"
"And that one-fifth was given to Ares' granddaughter, the Amazon princess, through your hands?" Zeus asked back.
"You really knew it a long time ago." "I know the result, but I don't know the process that happened in the time restricted area."
"So now you know?" Lin You said with a fake smile, "You knew the outcome before I entered the time restricted area, and you seemed to have acquiesced to this outcome?"
"Diana Prince is the blood of Ares and has the heart of a warrior. It is not unacceptable for the Olympian pantheon for her to take away a part of Ares's divinity. Even further, it is not impossible to consider letting her inherit everything from Ares in the future." Zeus inadvertently slowed down his tone, and it could even be said that it was full of goodwill towards the writer.
For a demigod from a comic book story, becoming a true god and directly replacing the divine power of a main god is simply a step to heaven.
Lin You refused without hesitation: "Don't even think about it! I won't let Diana get involved in this mess."
"That is the position of a true god. What qualifications do you have to make decisions for her?" Zeus' expression remained unchanged, but his tone became cold again.
"I won't make decisions for her, but I know what decision she will make." Lin You responded with a serious look, "So, I have to eliminate some hidden dangers for her in advance; I won't allow any god to interfere with or destroy her decision."
Wonder Woman may have a way to deal with those branch gods who also come from comic stories, but if the real God himself comes out to target her, the pressure she will face will be incomparable.
Lin You's trip was to nip this possibility in the bud.
"Use the quill pen as evidence to sever all direct and indirect connections between the true God of Olympus and the Amazon Princess Diana. You are not allowed to influence her in any way or by any means. This request comes without any conditions."
The writer clearly stated his requirements. He knew very well that these gods were all old scoundrels who had lived for thousands of years and were even more professional than the devil in playing word games in contracts; therefore, he spoke in absolute terms as soon as he opened his mouth.
These words will be written into the world by a quill pen and become the most supervised and enforceable "contract" in history.
Absolute clauses are unrealistic in the human world. No one would sign a contract in this way except for unequal treaties. However, in the divine world of the virtual dimension, such absolute clauses have the possibility of being implemented.
God's will can be based on subjective concepts and transcend the objective determined by matter.
Zeus was dissatisfied and said: "You let her enjoy the grace bestowed by Olympus, but you don't want to bear the consequences..."
"Stop, stop!" Lin You waved his hand and interrupted His Majesty the God King rudely. "Let me be clear. Those were not bestowed by Olympus, and they were not some bullshit 'grace'. A more accurate assessment would be that they were a bunch of troubles caused by the Olympian pantheon. The little that Diana got was just the compensation she deserved and the reward for solving the problem."
"We can try another form of compensation and reward; after thousands of years of accumulation by Olympus, there must be something that is more to the liking of the Amazon princess. As far as I know, she actually hates Ares' divine characteristics." The King of Gods made a new suggestion.
Lin You was not so easily fooled and refused again: "For a warrior like Diana, no matter how powerful the external object is, it is not as good as the growth of her own strength. Do you have anything more powerful and more suitable for her than the godhood of Ares?"
"Powerful" is only one of the reasons, "compatible" is the other. There may be something powerful, but it may not be more compatible with Diana than the things of Ares, the "direct ancestor". Or there may be something compatible, but it is something Zeus will never exchange.
For example, the divinity of Athena.
The godhood that represents the just side of war is definitely more popular than the godhood of Ares, but can Zeus give it to him?
The God King should have been determined, but he began to hesitate and fell into a strange silence. The writer also waited quietly. At this moment, he really looked like the physics genius who was reading a book under the high-voltage arc.
"I can promise you that the Olympian gods will not pursue Diana Prince, and you, my friend..." Zeus' tone was obviously kind, and he even blurted out the word "friend", "you must not pursue Hercules either."
Lin You burst out laughing; he and Zeus had a tacit understanding that Hercules was his biggest bargaining chip in this trip.
Olympus is the real backer of Patrick Morgan, the god of truth; and the most important evidence lies in Hercules.
"Hercules' matter is a different price. If I can only get Diana Prince's peace, then I will lose a lot." Lin You asked for a higher price without hesitation. He knew very well that Olympus colluded with the God of Truth in order to establish a good relationship with the will of the world before other gods.
Let the God of Truth make friends with the will of the big world through the "unknown", and then bring the God of Truth under the command of the Olympian pantheon... Zeus may even have made plans to abandon Ares and replace him with Patrick Morgan, a branch god who has a "better relationship" with the will of the big world.
As for Ares and the Norse pantheon, they were nothing more than victims and smokescreens to cover up Zeus's plot.
Unfortunately, Zeus had planned everything, but he had not expected that the relationship between the writer and the will of the world was so good that it was irreplaceable; nor had he expected that Hercules would be completely exposed to the writer and leave evidence.
A true god who relied on the "Sands of Time" to sneak into the time forbidden zone must still have traces of the "Sands of Time" on his body.
Based on Lin You’s own experience with the “Sands of Time”, he was certain that the traces left by the “Sands of Time” could not be cleaned up in a short period of time.
Once the truth comes out, Zeus will face greater blame than Jupiter did back then, and will be comparable to Odin today.
Jupiter's scheme against Olympus was ultimately a struggle for interests; Zeus and Odin tried to befriend the will of the greater world, but they betrayed the position of the gods and stood on the side of the will of the greater world, which was a struggle over the route.
Conflicts of interest can be compromised and divided, and many smart people can achieve a win-win situation.
The dispute over the route...it's a life-and-death battle.
Odin has already tended to compromise, giving up creating the "unknown" and instead promoting a "new version of Ragnarok"; now, it is Zeus' turn to make a choice.
"What else do you want?" Zeus' voice seemed to be on the verge of exploding amid the crackling sound of countless electric arcs in the temple.
Unfortunately, the so-called pressure from the God King seemed just so-so to Lin You, and he had seen it before. In Europe, there were three people with the title of God King, and they dealt with each other coming and going all the time.
"Haven't you guessed what I want a long time ago, Minerva?" Lin You said calmly, but his momentum was not inferior at all. "Speaking of which, this was originally the trouble you Olympus caused me. Now it's time to solve it."
Zeus became increasingly annoyed: "Another Athena... Yes, She has awakened. Do you want Her to be part of the exchange? How do you plan to do it?"
"First of all, I want to correct you. Minerva and Athena are two different things." Lin You said seriously, "And from now on, she will no longer have any connection with you. All conditions are the same as Diana."
Diana and Minerva are both key problems that need to be solved on today's trip to Olympus. Lin Youzheng proved with his actions that he is a good brother and will not forget to kiss...er...sister just because he has a love sister. (End of this chapter)
